The Reverie Reels

A Saint Reverie Experience

About

The Reverie Reels is a curated film screening and conversation series dedicated to celebrating storytelling, creativity, and cultural reflection through visual art. It provides a space where filmmakers, creatives, and audiences come together to experience thought-provoking short films, documentaries, and visual essays, followed by intimate dialogues that explore the ideas, emotions, and social themes behind the work.

The project was created to reintroduce cinema as a tool for community and introspection, highlighting how storytelling can mirror the collective consciousness of a generation. Every screening becomes a shared moment of reflection, a visual reverie where art meets dialogue.

Vision & Purpose

Reverie Reels exists to bridge the gap between creators and their audiences while fostering meaningful discussion around the art of storytelling.
It’s not just about watching films, it’s about experiencing them, understanding the intention behind them, and uncovering the real-world issues they touch on.

Beyond film, the project aims to strengthen South Africa’s creative network, giving independent filmmakers, visual artists, and cultural thinkers a platform to showcase their work and spark collective growth.

Concept & Curation

Each Reverie Reels event is thematically curated, drawing inspiration from the cultural mood, the stories being told, and the voices we want to amplify.

The event typically includes:

  • Film Screenings – featuring independent short films, visual projects, or documentaries that fit the evening’s theme.

  • Live Conversations – intimate post-screening discussions between directors, writers, artists, and the audience, hosted by a creative or cultural moderator.

  • Visual Showcases – exhibitions or installations that accompany the film’s themes, from photography to digital art.

  • Collaborations – with musicians, stylists, designers, and brands that align with the spirit of creativity and storytelling.

Each session is designed as a cinematic experience rather than a traditional screening, with deliberate attention to space, sound, lighting, and atmosphere to immerse the audience fully.

Why It Matters

The Reverie Reels serves as a cultural archive of what our generation is thinking, feeling, and creating. It nurtures dialogue across disciplines, celebrates authenticity in visual storytelling, and promotes collaboration among filmmakers, brands, and creatives who believe in the transformative power of art.

By hosting screenings in creative venues, the project also drives awareness toward local cultural spaces, supporting the broader artistic ecosystem while building community.

Genre & Artist Selection

Reverie Reels welcomes all genres and formats, from narrative shorts and experimental films to music visuals and conceptual pieces, as long as the work speaks truth, emotion, and artistic intention. The focus is always on authentic stories told beautifully.

Core Objective

To redefine how film and conversation coexist, transforming every screening into a cultural moment that connects creators, audiences, and ideas, and keeps the spirit of storytelling alive.
